Genealogy Club To Begin New Season This Month

The first meeting of the new season for Newtown Genealogy Club will be held on Wednesday, September 11, at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

Meetings are on the second Wednesday of the month, September through June. This season the club expects to have interesting and informative speakers on many aspects of genealogy.

The first speaker for 2013-14 be Joseph Lieby, a retired educator with 20 years experience in genealogical research. He is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, with a specialty in German American and Palatine research, with a time period specialty of 18th and 19th centuries.

Meetings and programs begin at 7 pm and usually end around 9. Refreshments are served.

A $3 donation is requested from each guest.

Dues for membership are $20 for an individual and $30 for a family.

Harlan Jessup, a professional genealogist and member of Newtown Genealogy Club, is in the Genealogy Room of the Library on Monday afternoons from 2 to 4:30, to help visitors get started on their. In addition, the library is connected to all the major genealogy sites on a dedicated computer; Mr Jessup and other members are happy to help others with their journey in family history.
