Lawrence Earl Flynn, 83, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of beloved family on August 30, 2026, in Sandy Hook. He was born on September 14, 1942 in Bridgeport to John J. Flynn II and Florence (Descheneaux) Flynn.

Lawrence graduated from Bullard Haven High School in Bridgeport and pursued work in his early years at Remington Arms and Raybestos Manhattan in Stratford. He later owned and operated his own painting business, catering to both residential and commercial clients before working many years at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals in Ridgefield.

He married Audrey S. Velky on April 25, 1964, and together they raised a family and built a home in Sandy Hook. Lawrence and Audrey enjoyed gardening together and trips to the casino. Lawrence supported his community having served, for a time, as a volunteer firefighter and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church in Newtown. He was a lover of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing whenever the time presented. He spent many decades as a member of Fairfield County Fish and Game Protective Association where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting archery, Skeet, and the camaraderie of family and friends who shared these same interests.

He is survived by his twins, son William Flynn of Newtown and his daughter, Lori Montoni of Naugatuck.

He was preceded in death by Audrey S. Flynn, his wife of 62 years; and his brother John J. Flynn III.

He will be lovingly missed by his grandchildren Amanda and Theresa Montoni and by his cherished great granddaughter Audrianna.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8, from 4 to 7 pm, at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown. A prayer service is scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm. Burial will be private with family at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Lawrence’s memory are invited to make donations in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association, the American Heart Association, or any local food bank or pantry.
