Local Student Participates In HOBY World Leadership Congress

WASHINGTON — Aimee Clavette of Sandy Hook was among seven outstanding high school sophomores representing Connecticut in the nation’s capitol July 18–25 at the Hugh O’ Brian Youth (HOBY) World Leadership Congress (WLC).

This year’s theme was “Uniting the World’s Youth of Today for a Better Tomorrow.”

Created by veteran actor Hugh O’ Brian, television’s Wyatt Earp, HOBY affords 350 high school students, 250 from the United States, the balance from 17 foreign nations, a unique opportunity to gain leadership training through interactive panel discussions, guest speakers, and special events.

“At HOBY, our primary goal is to give high school sophomores the opportunity to discover their leadership potential and how to use it to become the leaders of tomorrow,” said Mr O’ Brian. “We give them a hands-on opportunity to interact with today’s top movers and shakers in business, government, education, technology, and other professions.”
