Time Change For Opera Gala

DANBURY — A gala concert event by and for the benefit of Danbury Opera will take place on Saturday, September 6, at 4 pm. The event had previously been announced as starting at a later hour but will begin at 4 pm in order to avoid conflict with nearby “Taste of Greater Danbury” programs on the city’s green Saturday evening.

Continuing in the light-hearted theme of “Butterflies on the Elephant” introduced in last weekend’s season-opening matinees, the September 6 program includes operatic vignettes, arias and ensembles from the great operatic masters. The program is designed to please connoisseurs and newcomers alike.

The program will be at Danbury Music Centre, 256 Main Street in Danbury.

Under the artistic direction of Joan Brainerd Noland, performers will include Danbury Opera regulars, Connecticut artists and local debuts of new artists from New York and Virginia. The singers are Deborah Burgess, Elly Erickson, Cheryl Hill, Joanne Kant, Mary Ellen Pardee, Elizabeth Russo, Ann Tormelo, Douglas Jabara, James Noland, Joseph Pardee and Alejandro Trevino.

A suggested – and tax deductable – contribution of $10 at the door would be welcomed. The program is partially supported by a grant from Danbury Cultural Commission.
