Wooster School Installs New Headmaster, George N. King, Jr

DANBURY — Wooster School, a 78-year-old independent school based in Danbury, opened its doors September 4 with enrollment topping 400 students in grades K–12. The new school year is punctuated with the appointment of a new headmaster, George N. King, Jr, who took over from John Cheeseman, a 1957 Wooster School graduate.

Previously the head of the Upper School at Greenhill School in Dallas, Texas, Mr King, a native of Louisville, Ky., began his studies in music, pursuing a Master of Science degree from the New England Conservatory of Music after graduating from Murray State University in Kentucky. After a year teaching at the Boston Latin School as an instrumental music teacher, Mr King found his way into the independent school sector.
