Ask The Doc About: Sleep Disorders
Derby â More than 100 million Americans of all ages fail to get a good nightâs sleep. At least 84 different sleep disorders can adversely affect quality of life and personal health. But conditions such as sleep apnea, insomnia, restless legs, and narcolepsy can be effectively identified and treated to improve oneâs health.
âSleep Problems â No More Counting Sheep!â will be presented on Thursday, September 11, at 6:30 pm, as part of an âAsk the Doctorâ series being featured by Griffin Hospital. Dr K. Marya Chaisson, director of Griffinâs Sleep Wellness Center, will answer questions and give attendees more insight into the causes of sleep problems and ways to get a good nightâs sleep.
Dr Chaisson is board certified in sleep medicine, internal medicine, critical care, and pulmonary disease, giving her a broad scope of expertise.
The âAsk the Doctorâ series concludes on Tuesday, September 23, 6:30 pm, with Dr Gregory Angstreich, who will present âBlood Disorders and Diseases â Causes, Symptoms, and Therapies.â Dr Angstreich is a board certified medical oncologist, hematologist, and internist.
He will join his associate with Medical Oncology & Hematology, PC, Dr Jeffrey Orell, in moving their practice from Shelton to Griffinâs new Center for Cancer Care when it opens in early October. They will be part of the comprehensive range of radiation, medical, and surgical oncology services all available in the center, which features state of the art image guided radiation therapy and individualized chemotherapy infusion areas.
The free sessions, part of Griffin Hospitalâs ongoing Health Empowerment Series, are designed to inform attendees about some of the latest treatments and procedures being offered at Griffin Hospital and how they can play a more active role in managing their own health.
