FAIRFIELD — Mark C. Reed, vice president for administrative and student affairs at Fairfield University, has announced the appointments of David W. Frassinelli and Thomas F. Mr Frassinelli has been named assistant vice president and in that position will serve as the chief facilities officer of the university. He will be responsible for overall management and supervision of the Department of Facilities Management.

Mr Frassinelli brings extensive experience in construction management, first with his family’s construction firm, E&F Construction, and most recently with Gilbane Building Company, in roles that included all aspects of project management, business development, and special projects.

With Gilbane, Mr Frassinelli was the project manager for the expansion and renovation of Fairfield University’s DiMenna-Nyselius Library and the building of Arrupe Hall, which connects Fairfield Prep’s Xavier and Berchmans Halls.

He is active in the community, serving as secretary, trustee, and chair of the Building Committee for the Pequot Library in Southport and as a member of the Board of Associates for Bridgeport Hospital. He is a former trustee and chair of the Building Committee for Fairfield Country Day School and trustee and vice president of Greater Bridgeport Symphony.

Mr Frassinelli holds a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College, a certificate in construction management from Stanford University, and a master’s degree in finance from Fairfield University. He is a member of the Society of College & University Planners (SCUP) and is currently studying for LEED certification in support of his interests in environmental and sustainability issues.

Thomas Curran has been named director of campus planning and design and will serve as the campus architect. He has broad experience in architecture, design, facilities, and project management. He was associate director and then director of planning and engineering at Western Connecticut State University. He also served in project management, construction management, and field manager roles with the State of Connecticut’s Department of Public Works, United Healthcare Corporation, Pepsi-Cola Company, and General Electric.

Mr Curran is a registered architect in the State of Connecticut and holds memberships in the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Society of College & University Planners (SCUP), and Association of Higher Education Facilities Officers. He is certified as a construction document specialist from the Construction Specification Institute.

Mr Curran holds a bachelor’s degree from Assumption College and a master’s degree in architecture from Columbia University.
