Support Sandy Hook

And The Food Pantry

To the Editor:

The volunteers at FAITH Food Pantry have been working very hard to keep the shelves stocked with food for the families of Newtown who are experiencing financial difficulties. Your readers have seen articles describing our empty shelves and as usual the community responded with outpourings of generosity. One of the best things about volunteering at the pantry is witnessing the care and concern our community has for each other.

That being said, I would like to convey our excitement over the upcoming Passport to Sandy Hook event that takes place on Saturday, October 6, from 11 to 4 in the center of Sandy Hook. This is a free event that highlights all of the wonderful Sandy Hook merchants and restaurants. Once again, our caring community is stepping up to help FAITH. The Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire Company and the organizers of the event are asking those who attend the event to bring nonperishable food and/or toiletries and/or dish/laundry/cleaning products to the fire truck in the parking lot near the laundromat. Any items donated will immediately help a needy family. Our volunteers will be grateful to you, as will your Newtown neighbors in need.

Enjoy a fun day with free giveaways and check out all that Sandy Hook Center has to offer. Hope to see you there!
