Chinese Blessing Ceremony & Open House For Martial Arts Dojo

NORWALK — The Calasanz Karate and Kung Fu Dojo on Westport Avenue will open its newly refurbished doors on Saturday, October 7, with a series of martial arts demonstrations and a Chinese Nine Star Blessing Ceremony led by Fung Shui Master R.D. Chin. The public is invited to attend.

The Calasanz Martial Arts System, which was founded in 1986, has become world-known as a martial arts teaching system.  Master Calasanz has been teaching karate and Kung Fu since 1979.

The Calasanz System offers the opportunity for physical fitness to a large variety of people. Not only are young healthy athletes who wish to complete in tournaments seen at the Calasanz dojo, but men, women, and children of all ages are welcome. Whether they seek self defense, physical strengthening, increased ability to focus, or the chance to master the martial arts philosophy, the Calasanz System offers everyone an opportunity to achieve physical, mental, and spiritual health through the marriage of ancient wisdom with modern sports conditioning technology.

The system combines traditional martial arts techniques with dance, movement, aerobics, and isometrics, based on Master Calasanz’s long study of these varied disciplines. The school offers Gojo Ryu Karate, Wing Chung Kung Fu, Chinese boxing, Tai Chi Chuan, American kickboxing, Aikido, and aerobic training.

Master Calasanz has recently expanded and recreated his school as a state of the art environment for complete physical training. To celebrate the opening of the new dojo in a traditional Chinese manner, the Nine Star Blessing Ceremony will be celebrated. This sacred ceremony is Chinese in origin and combines the ancient system of Feng Shui, the art of creating a harmonious environment, with the ritual blessing for a newly created space and all those who will inhabit it, ensuring optimism, good fortune, and prosperity. Master R.D. Chin will conduct the ceremony.

Master Calasanz’s recently published book Creating The Body You Want will also be released at the October 7 celebration. The 120 page fully illustrated book features the basic exercises of the Calasanz Martial Arts System, with hundreds of photographs and detailed instructions on how to perform each exercise routine. Martial Arts Master Calasanz will be on hand to autograph his unique new book.

The blessing ceremony will take place at 1 pm on Saturday, on October 7, at the Calasanz Martial Arts Dojo, 507 Westport Avenue (Post Road). The public is also invited to enjoy a series of unique demonstrations of various martial arts techniques, which will begin at 1:30 pm and continue through 8 pm.
