MINORS

 

GLADIATORS 9, DANBURY 2: Cole Depuy and Garrett Uhde banged out two hits apiece to lead the Gladiators to the win. TJ Faeth made a great defensive play at shortstop and Matt Bobkowski was solid at second.

BETHEL 8, TITANS 7: Jeff Spencer and Nick Saviano shared the pitching duties and did well in a loss to Bethel. Josh Leighton, Matt Baier and Patrick Stein powered the offense while Drew Woods, Ian Archer and Mike Coyle had strong games in the field.

HORNETS 6, TITANS 2: George Zaruba and Geno Villafano pitched well for the Hornets in the win. Villafano struck out nine batters in three innings. John Grimaldi and JR Shine provided the offense and defense with help from Daniel Tibella and Brian Grimes.

TITANS 15, GLADIATORS 7: Ian Arder and Daniel Spencer banged out two hits apiece to lead the Titans to the win. Jeff Spencer, Drew Woods and Pete Wlasuk all hit the ball hard while Dan McSweeney, Mike Notaro and Matt Baier had good games in the field, Nick Saviano pitched three shutout innings. For the Gladiators, Chris Page doubled and Keith Hoffman had a big hit. Dave Kopyscinski made a nice catch at third base and Mike Locorotondo played well at second.

GREEN MACHINE 6, DANBURY (#14) 3: Timmy Lacouture pitched well and Anthony Csizmaclia and Brandon Ching played well in the field to lead the Green Machine to its first win.

GREEN MACHINE 6, DANBURY (#13) 5: Mickey Fay, Adam Wenick and Mark Reyes all played well as the Green Machine rallied for a win.

DANBURY (#12) 11, GREEN MACHINE 8: Zach Favrotte was strong on the base baths, Nathan Crevier hit the ball hard, and Ryan Cahalane was strong in the field for the Green Machine.

BROOKFIELD 18, HORNETS 8: Brendan Deveney and Geno Villafano scored two runs each and Ben Federman legged out an infield hit. Kevin Leibold supplied the speed on the base paths.

TITANS 15, RAZORS 11: Jeff Spencer doubled, tripled and drove in three runs as the Titans out-slugged the Razors. Joe Cappiello and Ian Mason had two hits apiece. Josh Leighton knocked in the go-ahead run. Mason and Baier made great defensive plays while Brandon Barrett and Mike Notaro also had strong games. Pete Wlasuk pitched three strong innings. For the Razors, Stephen Berg doubled in a pair of runs while Trevor Todd had a good day at the plate. Colin Nanavaty played well in the field and Brian Murphy had a nice stint on the mound.

TITANS 7, HORNETS 7: For the Hornets, Dan Tribolla, Kevin Leibold and Brenden Deveney had good hits. Gene Villafano and George Zaruba (four strikeouts) pitched well. JR Shine and Conor Carmen led the defense.

BK (12) 15, HORNETS 5: Dan Tribolla, John Grimaldi and Tyler Kelchner hit well in the loss. Grimaldi, Brian Grimes and Kelchner also played well in the field.

NEWTOWN (#13) 12, NEWTOWN (#15) 2: Michael Coates and John Aminti both had doubles to lead the winners at the plate. Chris Marks, Joe Fedak and Tucker Schmidt pitched solid games while Vincent DeAngelis was strong behind the dish.

BROOKFIELD 21, HORNETS 11: Brenden Deveney had three walks with two runs scored and Zach Rahnlow had two walks and two runs scored, but Brookfield out-scoring the Hornets. George Zaruba pitched well while JR Shine, John Grimaldi and Conor Carmen played well in the field.

TOMAHAWKS 12, HORNETS 2: Conor Carmen and Brian Grimes combined for five walks and two runs scored in a loss to the Tomahawks. John Grimaldi led the defense with an unassisted double play at first base and George Zaruba pitched three solid innings.

GLADIATORS 9, BROOKFIELD 6: Down by four runs, the Gladiators rallied back with seven runs. Max Muraskiewicz belted a grand slam home run and Garrett Uhde cracked a pair of hits to lead the offense. Daniel Greenwade had a game-saving catch and Chris Page played a solid second base.

GLADIATORS 3, NIGHTHAWKS 0: Ralph Sergiovanni tossed a no-hitter, whiffing 15 batters over six innings, and Zach Gordon had a game-winning hit to lead the Gladiators. Keith Hoffman and Matt Bobkowski played well in the field. For the Nighthawks, Michael Coates had a strong pitching performance, striking out 12 batters over five innings. John Aminti did a good job behind the plate and Joseph Sedak was solid at second base.

JUNIORS

 

BROOKFIELD 7, HAWKS 3: Pete Oggeri, Rich Temple and Jim Leebaert ignited a seventh-inning rally that fell short when Seth Hull’s sharp liner, with the bases loaded, was stabbed for what turned out to be an inning-ending double play. Bobby Grauer, Brian Duffy and Oggeri anchored the defense (with Oggeri making a beautiful throw from right to prevent a run). Brian Duffy, Hill, Oggeri and Eric Rodriguez all pitched well.
