To the Editor:

On September 22, we had our 25th annual Health Fair at Reed School — an exceptional day due to the work of many people. The utmost thanks to Mark Pirizollli and his crew (Ray, Steve, Jim, John, and Rich). Reed School is a terrific facility with terrific staff. Our Public Works crew also lent strong, efficient, helping hands.

All our exhibitors and participants at the Fair are truly a joy to work with. Thanks to Tony Hwang, who was our emcee this year; he did a great job doing roving interviews with our exhibitors as well as our very special proclamation ceremony for our founding member Mae Schmidle’s 25th anniversary of our Health Fair. A special thanks to our sponsors, Aavon Pest Control, Aqua Environmental Lab, Bethel Visiting Nurse Association, Dr Della Schmid, the Newtown Prevention Council, and the Vein Institute. Heartfelt thanks to our superb pizza makers, who faithfully support us — Carminuccio’s, Franco’s, My Place Restaurant, Newtown Pizza Palace, and the Villa. It is all of this support that makes such an event possible.

Newtown is fortunate to have such dedicated and talented people. To all the Fair’s attendees, thank you for coming; it is for you that we share all of the free health screenings and health and safety info to keep Newtown great.

A very special thank you to Dr Grossman and Dr Draper; Board members Dr Bill Begg, Jocelyn Taweh, Herb Rosenthal, Bernie Meehan, and Curtis Read; and Health District staff (Maureen, Ed, Suzette and Keith) — all the support and hard work make the difference every day, and especially Fair day!

On behalf of the Health Fair Organizational Committee (Mae Schmidle, Dr Della Schmid, and myself), thank you and see you next year!
