After his release from a Rhode Island prison, a 43-year-old man was arrested by Newtown police on multiple warrants for allegedly having committed multiple residential burglaries in Newtown in 2016.

After being extradited from Rhode Island after having served a prison term there on a burglary conviction, Lyle Solsbury, of no certain address, was transported to Connecticut Superior Court in Danbury where he was arraigned on the criminal charges on October 2, according to Newton Police Detective Jason Frank.

Through one warrant, police arrested Solsbury on three separate counts of third-degree burglary in connection with house burglaries that occurred on July 21, 2016, on Toddy Hill Road, Bennetts Bridge Road, and Philo Curtis Road.

Through another warrant, police arrested Solsbury in connection with a burglary on July 21, 2016, on Riverside Road. The charges lodged in that case are third-degree burglary, fourth-degree larceny, first-degree criminal mischief, and possession of burglary tools.

Through a third warrant, police arrested Solsbury on charges of third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny, as well as first-degree failure to appear in court.

A fourth warrant against Solsbury was served on behalf of Naugatuck police. The charges are disorderly conduct and second-degree failure to appear in court.

The total bail stemming from the four warrants was $150,000. At his court arraignment, Solsbury pleaded not guilty to the nine charges lodged by Newtown police, but did not plead to the two Naugatuck charges. A judge reduced Solsbury's overall bail to $20,000, a sum that he did not post.

On October 3, Solsbury was being held at Bridgeport Correctional Center on $20,000 bail for a November 6 court appearance in Danbury on the Newtown charges. Solsbury is represented by a private lawyer.
