To the Editor:

Newtown is lucky to have the opportunity to elect Rebekah Harriman-Stites to represent us in the Connecticut General Assembly.

Rebekah believes in serving the community she loves and has been immersed in Newtown life for 17 years. She was elected to the Board of Education in 2015 and is currently the vice-chair. She founded the Newtown Forward nonpartisan advocacy group, helping Newtown residents act to improve our community. She was involved in founding the My Sandy Hook Family Fund and the EverWonder Children’s Museum.

As the owner of a small business, Rebekah has experience and expertise in helping communities with fundraising, getting grants, public relations, and marketing. She knows and understands the needs of business owners and knows what is needed to grow our businesses and our economy.

She’s been involved in developing leadership in Newtown and other communities. She has been widely recognized for her own leadership in the community and for her business skills, including by Money Magazine and the Fairfield County Business Bureau.

Rebekah is smart, organized, dynamic, and tremendously energetic. She is also scrupulously honest, a characteristic not often found in politicians these days. Most important, Rebekah is a great communicator who knows how to listen and how to collaborate. As Newtown’s Representative, she is committed to reaching across the aisle and finding ways to work together. I can’t think of anything we need more than that!

Please join me in voting to send Rebekah to Hartford as Newtown’s State Representative.
