To the Editor:

There’s something to be said about experience, poise, a collaborative open mind, and a level head as predictors of success in high-impact, high pressure roles like Chief Executive. These assets are necessary to a smooth transition of leadership, especially at a time when our town is poised to wish a very fond farewell to a successful, steady, thoughtful leader, like Dan Rosenthal.

I believe Jeff Capeci has the experience and demeanor necessary to guide Newtown forward with consideration for all residents and a vision for all of a “nicer Newtown.” He’s got a working knowledge of the job.

Jeff always puts Newtown first and, for nearly 20-years, has held countless volunteer positions of responsibility for our town, serving two terms on the Board of Selectmen, and five terms on our Legislative Council, three as Chairman. He’s also led two Charter Revision Commissions as Chairman.

In Jeff’s professional career as a software business analyst, he designs and implements manufacturing operating systems, using thoughtful business intelligence and analytics to deliver increased productivity of manufacturing operations.

Locally, Jeff’s a family man. He and Tanya are most proud of their two young-adult, former Newtown-Schools children, whom I helped teach to drive.

He’s been volunteering in Newtown forever, not just in town government, but in scouting and athletics. You can usually find him near the front of the pack in most local runs.

On November 7, we can elect a person known for great experience and level-headedness. Someone who is kind, a good listener, and a person of integrity, who knows how Newtown is supposed to run. Jeff believes every Newtown resident deserves a voice.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, Jeff Capeci truly loves Newtown.

When Newtown calls, Jeff answers! I believe he represents Newtown’s very best path forward. He has my vote. How about yours?

Mitch Bolinsky

Newtown Voter & Six-Term State Representative
