To the Editor:

I’ve never written to the Editor in support of a political candidate before; today I am writing in support of State Representative Raghib Allie-Brennan, whom I have come to respect for the work he’s been doing to help families with loved ones struggling with Substance Use Disorder (SUD). This disorder has impacted my family personally. I have lost a child to SUD and too many of our son’s peers have suffered the same fate. I represent the nearly two thousand members of briancodyslaw.org, a grass roots organization determined to change the landscape in the battle against SUD.

A little over a year ago, Allie-Brennan was one of the first legislators to meet with leaders from our group. With deep and sincere compassion he immediately pledged his support and became one of the first sponsors of Brian Cody’s Law, as well as one of our organization’s biggest advocates.

Raghib and his team in Hartford were the catalyst to “committee approval” on several of our organization’s key initiatives, which is to help those in our community seeking support services by removing the crippling impediments that often get in the way of the recovery journey.

Several of those proposals were well on their way to becoming Connecticut law, until COVID-19 struck.

His work with the recent storm, resolving troubles with Eversource, and his efforts to combat the COVID virus have earned our trust and make our organization confident that Allie-Brennan will continue this fight in January and quickly convert many of these proposals into real legislation.

Because of this and all of the other hard work he has demonstrated, I am urging all of my family and friends in Bethel to consider my good friend, Raghib Allie-Brennan, on November 3rd for reelection as Bethel’s State Representative.

Let’s #KeepGoing.
