Tercentennial Events

Through October 31 — “Art for The Tercentennial,” in lower meeting room at Booth Library, 25 Main Street, art by Newtown students in all grades depicting some of their favorite places in town, also favorite selected works of myriad subjects, open during regular library hours.

October 8 — Author Book Signing with Dan Cruson, at Lexington Gardens, 32 Church Hill Road, 10 am-noon, visit Town Historian Mr Cruson during one of his first book signing events for A Mosaic of Newtown History, a collection of essays published for the Tercentennial.

October 8 — Tercentennial Trail Walk, Brunot Trail Preserve, Taunton Hill Road, 11 am, all ages welcome to follow trail within 72-acre preserve at their own pace, sponsored by Newtown Forest Association.

October 9 — “Walk In The Woods For Fitness,” Orchard Hill Nature Center, off Huntington Road, 2 pm, all ages invited to participate in family-style outing, VNA and Parks & Rec department will incorporate local history and ecology into trail walk.

October 11 — “Treasures of The Past: Clothing of The Past 300 Years,” at C.H. Booth Library community room, 25 Main Street, 7:30 pm, free program by Donna Locke will offer “brief overview of clothing from 18th Century, more detail on the 19th, and brief touch on 20th Century dress,” including samples and examples loaned from Newtown Historical Society, which is sponsoring the event; 426-5937.
