To the Editor:

We have voted in every local, state, and national election since the late 1970s for Democrats, Republicans, and independents. Lately we find ourselves voting for what we view as the lesser of two evils. There are only a handful of times we have been truly excited about a candidate, and voting for Rebekah Harriman-Stites is one of these times.

With Rebekah, Newtown has a great opportunity to be represented by a truly talented and well-informed leader, one who will prioritize economic growth, property tax revision, strong schools, and most importantly transparent governing. As a small business owner, grant writer for nonprofits, social worker, fundraiser, and School Board Vice-Chair, Rebekah has a proven track record of commitment to the community and the skill set and knowledge to tackle these important issues with laser focus once she is in Hartford. Her roots in Newtown are deep, and nothing is more important to her than the success of our community.

If you want to be represented by someone who knows how to listen, takes your concerns seriously, has studied the topic from every angle, and will cross the aisle and push for legislation that is best for our community, the choice is clear. This November please cast your ballot for Rebekah Harriman-Stites for our state representative, a candidate who will work for everyone.

Sincerely,

Kim and Jack Weber

It’s curious that the candidate expresses appreciation for the endorsement of the Working Families Party who advocate defunding the police.
