A Year Of ‘Firsts’ Leads To Endorsement

To the Editor:

In a year of “firsts” for many of us, I have a couple my own. For the first time, I feel compelled to write a letter of endorsement for a candidate. That candidate is our State Representative Mitch Bolinsky. I’ve had the opportunity to meet with Mitch to listen to his ideas and visions for our community and state and to gauge for myself his strength of character and his commitment to service.

I appreciate is that Mitch is not a “political animal.” Unlike so many others, he does not spend his time and ours espousing all the good he has done while negating the accomplishments of others. I heard a quote that went something like this, “It is amazing how much can get done if nobody is looking to claim the credit.” That is Mitch. He is more public servant than politician. He realizes that a good idea is a good idea regardless of who proposes it and works within the system to accomplish the best for Connecticut and not just for his side of the aisle. He accepts his charge from us to spend his time acting honestly and ethically to keep our communities safe, spend our tax dollars wisely, and move our state forward in a positive direction.

The other “first” is that this is the only time in 40-plus years living here that my wife and I have requested a candidate place a sign on our lawn, a big step for us as we’ve always believed in the unspoken agreement among candidates to refrain from this practice. However, we feel so strongly that Mitch Bolinsky is the person we need to keep in Hartford representing us that we are proud to have that sign posted. We encourage all Newtowners to cast your vote for Mitch.

Sincerely,

Gary Sheehan
