To the Editor:

On behalf of the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company Golf Tournament Committee — which this year included Peter Barresi and Tim Whelan — I’d like to offer thanks to everyone who helped make this year’s tournament a great success.

Despite COVID-19 and the additional challenges we have all been under for months, supporters and sponsors once again stepped up to help us with the first in-person fundraiser we didn’t have to cancel this year. We thank everyone who gave of their time and/or financial support to make last week’s event — held Monday, September 28, at The Golf Club at Oxford Greens — a very successful fundraiser for our company.

We thank the golfers, the staff at Oxford Greens, and all of the volunteers who were on hand before, during and after the tournament.

We’d also like to specifically thank the following for their generous donations: PJ’s Laundromat, Pizza Palace, Jim Shpunt, Pete Barresi, Newtown Savings Bank, Dodgingtown Fire, Fleet Image, NJK Automotive, Danbury Auto Spring & Welding, Flint Ridge Development, LRM, Giglio Landscape Services, JPMaguire, Andy DeWolfe, Apex Glass LLC, Bethel Overhead Door, Cover Two, Kevin Cragin, Newtown Hardware, NorcomCT, Shipman’s, Southbury Country Florist, Tier One, Tracy’s Garage, Fair Auto Supply, QJF Lawn, Brian Malloy, and Reverie Brewing.

We could not have done this without everyone’s help.

Like everyone else looking ahead to 2021, we have already booked next year’s tournament. Mark your calendars for Monday, September 27, 2021, for a return to Oxford Greens.

Sincerely,

Karin Halstead
