To The Editor:

On Tuesday, September 29, I had to call the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire Department. I had a faulty smoke detector that would not turn off.

Four volunteers answered the call in under five minutes. They found the problem quickly. They checked the other alarms on two floors. They also checked possible problems inside and outside. They assured me and calmed me down. They were kind, helpful, and professional. I was so grateful to them.

I thank God we have these truly wonderful people looking out for us every day. God bless them.
