Scores From The Soccer Pitch

Results from girls’ and boys’ youth travel and recreation soccer games this past week are as follows:

Girls

U6

Evil Princesses vs Team 7 (score not kept at this level): For the Evil Princesses, Anna Romano was strong in goal. Olivia Cornett and Emma Walsh played staunch defense, while Riley Burns, Lily Charles and Mchaela Cosgriff kept the pressure up on offense. For Team 7, play of all the girls was so well-rounded that the game ball was awarded to the entire team rather than individual players.

U8

Fighting Irish 2, Great White Sharks 0: For the Fighting Irish, Jenna Lavelle and Hailey Wilson both scored goals. Heidi Poarch was like a vacuum cleaner in the goal, picking up everything within reach. Olivia Steare was outstanding on offense as well as on defense. For the sharks, Ally Daoust and Carlie Smith were strong on offense. Kristina Goeree and Hannah Daly played outstanding defense, while Alisa Redzepi was creating havoc all over the field.

Great White Sharks 2, Wildcats 2: For the Sharks, Gabrielle Reisert and Carlie Smith scored. Madeline Ceci and Madeline Hossler played outstanding defense. Brooke Antous was all over the field, while Katarina Rosen played like a brick wall in goal. For the Wildcats, Allyson Tolson scored both goals, McKenna Cuomo was strong in the field and Julia Kanaan played terrific in goal.

Great White Sharks 2, Tornadoes 0: For the Sharks, Gabrielle Reisert and Brooke Antous scored. Julianna Russo and Hannah Daly made plays all over the field, while Madeline Hossler had several incredible saves in goal. Lin Vitarbo and Natalene Sim anchored the defense and Kimberly Johnson and Mary Celentano played well on the Tornadoes’ attack.

Wildcats 3, Shining Stars 2: The Shining Stars’ goals were scored by Sarah Tressler and Sage Karp. Madison Ziperstein and Morgan Seras played outstanding games. The Wildcats were led on offense by Sarah Wildman, who scored twice, and Kaley Meisenheimer, who netted another goal. Colleen Phaneuf played a strong all around game. including assisting on a goal with a strong pass to Wildman. Defensively, the Wildcats were led by Hannah Groonell and Liza Gentrup.

Mustangs 2, East Side Wildcats 1: Julie Clark and Karsen Pirone scored for the Mustangs. Kaitlyn King and Claire Dubois had the assists. Brianna Lovely was great in the sweeper position. Kiersten Fallon had several saves in goal. For East Side, Carly Sweirbut scored and Ally Tolson had the assist. Ally Toth played a great game on defense and Jane Aho had a shutout in goal.

U10

Extreme Mustangs 4, Animals 3: Jillian Pieretti opened the scoring for the Mustangs, Megan Goyda scored twice, and Bella Jiminez once, with Grace Larsen providing key assists on offense. For the Animals, Taylor Pare scored off an assist by Haley Harkins. MacKenzie Macchiarulo and Allie Indelicato netted a goal apiece in a tough match.

Team Five 4, Dynamite Desserts 2: Dylan Zahansky was strong on defense and Lucy Draper was solid in goal for the Dynamite Desserts. Sydney Johnson scored both goals in the defeat.

Newtown Breeze 3, New Canaan 0: Sarah Houle scored the first goal and Jessica Maturo added another in the first half. Newtown received outstanding offensive efforts from Rylee Mulligan, Mary Hufziger and Marcella Daily. Cecilia Schoeni added the third goal midway through the second half. The defense of Erin Tressler, Jacklin Gouveia and Natalie Kelchner kept New Canaan scoreless.

Fairfield Green 1, Newtown Breeze 0: The Breeze suffered its first loss of the season despite solid offensive efforts from Maggie Beardsley, Samantha Crespo and Ashley Santore. Cassidy Kortze and Natalie Kelchner played well at both ends of the field, while the defense, which kept Fairfield scoreless throughout the first half of the game, was led by Greta Staubly and Savannah Mather.

Newtown Heat 6, Trumbull Lightning 0: In the Heat’s first win of the season, Alexis Mason scored a hat trick with three goals. The wall of defense was played by Audrey Sedensky, Maria Ringes and Kira Kelly. Lauren King had two goals and Anna Moscovici had one. Diana Kirkman, Eleanor Frost and Elizabeth Chamiec-Case all assisted in the goals and played great games. As goalkeeper, Colleen McCarthy secured the net for the shutout.

The Underdogs 4, Team Two 2: Lauren Carrino, Natalie Shaker and Lauren Cirone all found the net. Haley Taylor played a good game both defensively and offensively.

Team Four 2, American Eagles 0: For the American Eagles, Rachel Tomasino played a tremendous game in goal, making seven saves. Jillian Milano and Kaysie Fisher anchored the team’s defense and Hana Rosenthal played tirelessly as the team’s striker.

U11

Fairfield White 1, Newtown Rangers 0: Brianna MacDonald skillfully blocked repeated shots on goal throughout the game. Brianna Lutz and Emily Montoya outmaneuvered Fairfield on defense. On offense, Julia Sughrue and Alessandra Manfredi were standouts.

U12

Newtown Comets 6, Weston 0: Anna Biondi fed a pass to Casey Harkins who knocked in the first goal. Biondi received a cross from Kim Brello and a tip from Quinn Karp for a score. Portia Baudisch knocked in a pass from Brittany Antous. Alyssa Ruefenacht slid a pass to Mikayla Kuligowski for another score. Katie Mossbarger intercepted a defensive clear and banged one home from outside the 18. Sarah Lyons skipped one past the keeper on a penalty kick for the final goal. Julia Schoeni and Emiy Charash were flawless in goal.

U14

Twisters 5, Just For Kicks 2: For the Twisters, two goals were scored by Kerry Scallon with one goal each scored by Aofie Flanagan, Caitlin Filiato and Bella Saraceni. Strong defense by Bonnie Buchetto, excellent midfield play by Alexis and Tonya Tucker and solid goaltending by Jenna Hansen led the way. For Just For Kicks, goals were scored by Megan Milano and Katie Clark. Geralyn Klein, Courtney Datin, Nicole Russo and Haley Williams all played good games.

Chatterboxes 5, Street Lighting 1: The Chatterboxes distributed the ball all around. Goals were scored by Alexandra Dittrich, Emily Grimes, Meghan Grimes, Jamie Duncan and Sierra Mather with assists by Sierra Mather and Hannah Grant. Amanda Donovan and Brianna Baranoski had strong games in goal with Kayla DiSibio showing great defensive support. For the Street Lightning, Alessandra Lalli scored a goal. Bridget McDonald battled well in midfield, Katerina Ringes played well on defense and Madelyn Aug was strong up front.

Boys

U8

Team Three 1, Daredevils 1: For Team Three, Kyle Duval played hard on offense and scored the goal while Hunter Kirkman and Cory Furrier provided a solid defensive effort. Jack McDermott and Devin Johnson had strong games both in the net and on the field. For the Daredevils, strong offensive performances were given by Derek Sieber, Duncan O’Leary and Justin DeThomas, who scored the game-tying goal. Stingy defense was played by Stephen Sedensky, Will Pelisson and Max Hanson.

Scorpions 2, Little Roma 2: Thomas Armstrong and Keenan Murphy scored for Roma, Mark Leonardi and Brandon Lutz had assists, Ethan Correia played well in the field and Andrew Tomasino was strong in goal. Sean Arnold and Luke Barrett both scored goals on rocket shots for the Scorpions. Jacob Laros and Andrew Manka both played well in goal. Jeff Gioiele and Ryan Beardsley were aggressive on defense for the Scorpions.

U10

Strikers 1, Newtown United 1: Newtown United took the lead late in the game when Graham Dowd stole the ball deep in the Striker end and scored. With approximately 30 seconds left in the game, the Strikers’ Robert DiSibio scored a goal with a shot from well outside the penalty box to tie the game. For Newtown United, CJ Trivers and Will LeMay played great in the goal and in midfield. Charles Romano, Dylan Kretz and Nic Lombardo showed a lot of heart and hustle. For the Strikers, it was a team effort led by the hustle of Harry Eppers and Layton Harrell. Kai Toomey and Andrew Janco were aggressive and strong in goal.

Net Rippers 2, Ridgefield 1: Defensive standouts Mark Hall, Ryan Brello and Andrew Greenwood and goalie Silas Decker kept the game scoreless until Evan Eggleston scored on a penalty shot. Hunter Procaccini provided key defensive plays, and Adam Bergeron was a force to be reckoned with, both in and out of goal. With a perfect assist from Nick Harper, Matt Bucci sealed the deal with another goal with only seconds remaining.

U11

Newtown Storm 4, Westport 0: Newtown’s offense was led by Hayes Kelchner, Austin Engler, Mike Meyers and Nathan Augenbraun, each of whom scored a goal. The defense was led by Connery Mayer, Jamie Cochrane and Owen Samson. Shane Gattey, Thomas Leuci and Sebastian Forero kept the scoring opportunities available for Newtown with good passing. Robert Katrinak, Jack Riley and Forest Weatherby played tough defense, and Richard Ciamarra and Sam Grossano were integral parts of Newtown’s offensive attack.

U14

Hot Pockets 4, Barca 0: Enea Musaka and Jeroen Schickendantz did a great job on defense for Barca. Scoring for Hot Pockets were Tim Kelly, Josh Tuffy and Thomas Gavel with two. Dylan Lew and Thomas Shaker played well on offense for the Hot Pockets.

Slammin Cobras 4, Roma 0: The Cobras were led by their defense with goalies Michael Stierle and Thomas Elliot combining for the shutout. Elliot was impressive in his goalie debut, making several stops including a penalty kick. Jake Moore and Stierle led the Cobras’ offense with two goals apiece. James Wilkie and George Ferris played a strong midfield game. For Roma, Joe Anastasi played well in goal with defensive support from Tyler Lenox and a well played game by Cooper Bunocorre.

Vipers 6, Falcons AC-4: Tim Vander Have scored for the Vipers early in the game. Nick Genovese had the assist. The Falcons answered back immediately with goal from Chris Rovelli. Vander Have scored his second goal to put the Vipers up by one. The Falcons answered with a score from Dave Csordason. Nick Genovese of the Vipers sprinted down the sidelines and scored a goal to make it 3-2 Vipers. Andrei Kalionwski stopped the Falcons with great defense. Goalie Alister Sore stopped six shots on goal in the first half. Chris Ronelli scored again for the Falcons to make it 3-3. Ryan Szalay and Brandon Unger were solid on defense and Sinclair Sore was also impossible to beat. Sam Cox, assisted by Nathan Williams, scored for the Vipers to make it 4-3. Williams chased down the ball and forced several key turnovers. Vander Have battled the field for the hat trick, with help from Matt Barra and another assist by Genovese for a 5-3 score. Chris Morlock played a strong game. Alister scored on a penalty kick for the Vipers. Keeper Matt Barra made several nice saves for the Vipers. Zark Weiland scored a late goal. Falcon goalies Josh Harrison and Kyle Wilkins stopped an onslaught of shots. Patrick Olah, who was in goal for the Vipers in the first half, played an outstanding game.
