The Genealogy Club of Newtown will hold a virtual meeting on Wednesday, October 14, at 7 pm.

Genealogy Club meetings are co-sponsored by C.H. Booth Library. The club meets on the second Wednesday of every month from September through June. All are welcome to join meetings, which are usually conducted at the library.

This month, however, due to the continued pandemic, the club will host its gathering via Zoom.

The speaker will be Alec Ferretti, who will provide an overview of the organization Reclaim the Records, a nonprofit that seeks to restore public access to records that have been illegally withheld by the government.

Ferretti is a Reclaim the Records board member. He has worked for the Wells Fargo Family & Business History Center and is president of the New York Genealogy and Technology Group, an informal organization that meets bi-monthly to discuss genealogy topics.

He specializes in Italian and 20th Century genealogies.

Members of the local genealogy club should have already received an e-mail invitation to join the Zoom meeting. Those who have missed the e-mail, and anyone else who would like to join the presentation are invited to send request the link via e-mail to genclubnewtownct.secretary@gmail.com.

The Genealogy Club of Newtown is planning to conduct Zoom presentations instead of in-person meetings through the fall and winter months.
