Christensen To Lecture On 'Snake Jumping Worms'

This month, Pomperaug Valley Garden Club will welcome guest speaker Nicole Christensen, who will present a lecture on invasive worms at 10 am Tuesday, October 13, via Zoom.

Christensen has lived in Sandy Hook for more than 25 years. She has gardened since childhood, in several states and across numerous planting zones.

Christensen became a certified master gardener in 2015 and an advanced master gardener in 2017.

Since 2010, she has been writing professionally, blogging as the Suburban Farmgirl for the internationally published organic lifestyle website MaryJanesFarm. In addition, she teaches knitting classes, is an avid antiques collector, a “vintage glamper,” and raises backyard chickens.

Loving all things creative, Christensen considers her life’s motto to be “bloom where you are planted.”

Pomperaug Valley Garden Club is a charter member of the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut and National Garden Clubs. Founded in 1927, members of the club have contributed their time and talents to beautify the town of Woodbury. Some of the numerous civic activities include maintaining plantings and planters at numerous locations such as town buildings, local parks, Flanders Nature Center, library and senior center, and town greens.
