Nighthawk Cross Country Teams Earn Wins

Newtown High School’s girls’ and boys’ cross country teams hosted races on the course next to Reed School on October 5.

The girls beat New Milford 21-36, and Stratford and Kolbe Cathedral of Bridgeport each by 15-50 scores.

Emily Litke was the top overall finisher in a time of 21:18. Clara D’Amico was third in 22:08, Grace Chiriatti fourth in 22:35, and Britta Petersen fifth in 23:12. Ella Hage placed eighth in a time of 24:00, Grace Lyons was tenth in 25:06, Chloe Karnas 11th in 25:15, and Alexa Norton 12th in 25:16.

In the boys’ meet, Newtown fell 43-16 to New Milford and defeated Stratford 20-43 and Kolbe 21-40.

Aidan Budge clocked in at 18:21, Sam Staubly 18:49, Colby Harrell 18:57, Dan Sibley 19:06, Stephen Sibley 19:18, and Mitchell Schrader and Jeremy Pankow both had times of 19:25.
