While Sandy Hook Organization for Prosperity (SHOP) was putting the final touches on this weekend’s Passport To Sandy Hook (see related story), members were also planning for their Fourth Annual Sandy Hook Village Halloween Walk.

This year’s event will be Saturday, October 25, from 11 am to 2 pm. Downtown merchants  — all located within walking distance of the Church Hill Road-Washington Avenue-Riverside Road-Glen Road intersection — will scare up a delightful array of in-store candy and other treats for kids dressed in costume.

Local children are invited to attend with parent or other adult, in their best, scariest, funniest, and creative Halloween outfits. The Sandy Hook business district offers a safe environment for students to trick or treat during the daylight hours. Decorations will be up and the businesses will be ready for the little pirates and princesses to pay them a visit.

Organizer Sharon Doherty of PJ’s Laundromat, said that last year’s Halloween Walk had the largest turnout yet and she is excited to welcome old and new visitors back again this year.

“It’s for the little kids and that’s what it is all about. The little kids having a good time,” said Ms Doherty.

“The Halloween Walk has been a very special local community event that attracts many families with young kids. It’s a safe alternative to trick or treating because it’s such a pedestrian friendly neighborhood,” she noted.
