The "Fun-Tober Fest and Touch-A-Truck" event hosted by Merryhill Childcare Center and the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps attracted a crowd of youngsters and oldsters to Fairfield Hills on October 5, from 10 am to 4 pm, with the first hour "horn free" for those with sensitivity issues.

The event featured fire trucks, other community and specialty vehicles - including crane wreckers outfitted with swing slings - therapy dogs, art projects, and food. The sounds of drumming and laughter filled the field during the day of fun.

Admission fees of $5/person or $20/family benefited local nonprofit organizations.
