To the Editor:

As a former US Comptroller General, I have earned a national and international reputation as a truth teller, problem solver, and transformational change agent. Based on my extensive study of the current financial condition and competitive posture of the State of Connecticut, it's time for truth and trans-formation in the Constitution State.

The plain and simple truth is that Connecticut has gone from a leading state to last place in connec-tion with a number of key financial and competitiveness factors over the past 25-plus years. It will take committed and inspirational leadership and a dramatic change in course to make it happen. It will take people like Tony Hwang.

As a candidate for State Senator of the 28th District, Tony Hwang’s campaign is focused on the key economic and fiscal challenges that we face. What’s more, his record as a state representative demon-strates his leadership and commitment to the transformation Connecticut needs.

Tony didn’t just vote against budget implementation proposals that increased government spending without accountability; he proposed responsible alternative budget options. Recognizing that Connecti-cut has the highest liabilities and unfunded obligations per taxpayer of any state in the nation, Tony objected to excessive state bonding.

He did all this while remaining socially responsible and committed to the communities he represents. Tony works as hard as anyone that I know.
