Bolinsky Deserves The Vote

To the Editor:

Recently, a team member from Mitch Bolinsky’s campaign published a Facebook post that implied that Hartford needs more than “a pretty face and promises.” Realizing that such a statement could be construed as a slight toward Rebekah Harriman-Stites, Mitch Bolinsky took immediate responsibility for the statement, even though he never made it, reached out and apologized to Ms Harriman-Stites. That is the character and leadership that has made Mitch Bolinsky such an effective and respected state representative for Newtown on both sides of the aisle.

Ms Stites chose to call a press conference, all while feigning statements accepting Mr Bolinsky’s apology. In proclaiming being a victim to all, in the face of this adversity, she was celebrated for it in The Bee. If Ms Stites believes that every possible slight on her character justifies a trip to the press, when will she have time for the work that Newtown needs her to focus on? How will this create trust and collaboration with legislators in order to be successful in Hartford? I feel Newtown will suffer for it.

If I could honestly say Ms Stites’ media campaign and social media platforms have shown the utmost in integrity and character, maybe I wouldn’t be writing this letter. Staying silent is also a statement.

Without integrity, how do you exhibit and imbue confidence and honesty in peers, coworkers, and constituents?

As I stated before, character. Does anyone remember that anymore?

Mitch Bolinsky has demonstrated effective, responsible leadership in his campaign and in Hartford. He is a productive and respected representative for the state, and has delivered for Newtown. His decisive response in this matter is demonstrative of his integrity and has earned our respect and our vote in November.
