To the Editor:

I listened to the podcast Sweet’n Up with Jeff Spencer where Jeff interviewed Rebekah Harriman-Stites for over an hour (podcast aired on 10-09-2020). Rebekah talked about many different subjects including her being a member of the Board of Education. She said, “I’m really not afraid to shy away from a tough conversation. I really do try to find a collaborative approach to solving problems. I’m not a partisan person. A lot of the most difficult votes that I’ve had to make on the Board of Ed I’ve had to really talk to my Republican colleagues and figure out a way that we can all come to a consensus.” This is what politics should be. Working together — no matter what your party affiliation is — to do the best for all of your constituents. Rebekah is ready to represent all Newtown residents in Hartford.

Please support Rebekah Harriman-Stites as our state representative on November 3.

This is my personal opinion and not that of the Board of Selectmen, of which I am a member.

Sincerely,

Maureen Crick Owen
