To the Editor:

It is with great pleasure that I recommend Steve Hinden for the Board of Finance. Steve, his wife Barb and son Jacob are 15-year residents of Newtown. He has an undergraduate degree from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a law degree from Fordham University. He has worked at IBM and Amex and is presently working at Willis, Towers and Watson.

Steve believes that fiscal responsibility and education are our top priorities. He wants Newtown to have educational opportunities that differentiate us from other towns, while striving to be fiscally responsible. He has served on the Board of Finance for the last two years, and I feel he has done what he says. I feel that he can successfully represent all of us in Newtown.

During Steve’s first term, he was good to his word by independently looking at enrollment to budget needs for Newtown and comparing it to other towns in Connecticut. His data showed that Newtown had less of an increase than most other towns in the state. He wants Newtown to be fiscally responsible while giving the best positive education for our children.

Steve’s business background and legal experience are exactly what we need on the Board of Finance. He has proudly served for the last few years and is looking for reelection. It is without hesitation and with the highest recommendation that I write this letter.
