We Versus I, Vote For The We
To The Editor:
I am grateful for Connecticut government. Worker protection, gun laws, education support, much improved State finances and most of all support for all of us. I want to continue that path. I will vote for Democrats.
I’ve become attuned to pronouns used in advertisements for Governor. Lamont talks about “we” while Fazio is all about “I”. Mr Fazio’s claims of “I will” slash … and fixing … are not Governor powers. America over through Governors doing the bidding of the King in return for loyalty and riches.. It seems indicative to me of the Republican platform the favors only some Americans. Let’s live “We the people.”
“Cut Taxes” has been the Republican the elixir of all problems. That desire is insatiable, self-defeating. Republicans passed sweeping tax cuts and now a few months later are pushing more tax cuts. Republicans would do more for affordability by getting their leadership to stop the insidious tax of tariffs and ending the war the US started with Iran which has ballooned fuel prices.
I’m proud that Connecticut has stood up to and worked to mitigate the brutal actions of the White House. Under a façade of cutting waste, crime and job loss, questionably legal/constitutional, haphazard, and hateful Presidential orders ruin lives and create chaos. Connecticut has approved funding towards filling the federal funding losses. Concern for the “we.”
The Republican candidate for State Senate has some off target conceptions. She cast our housing problem as a homeless problem, then dismisses it because there is no homeless problem in the district. She wants to fix Medicare. Apparently confusing Medicare, a Federal program state legislatures don’t control, with Medicaid.
Don’t be lulled by polls and pundits. Join me in voting for Democrats. For ”we.”
