To the Editor:

What do we expect from our elected officials? To be hardworking, trustworthy, make evidence-based decisions, work collaboratively with their peers on both sides of the aisle? This is what I expect and it is why I am voting for Rebekah Harriman-Stites. Rebekah has already demonstrated her willingness to work hard for Newtown as evidenced by her work on the Board of Education and her tireless campaigning for State Representative. Her fantastic energy will be a much-needed breath of fresh air in Hartford. Rebekah is independent-minded and will always do what she feels is in the best interest of Newtown because, yes, she does love Newtown.

I’ve been impressed by Rebekah’s efforts to connect with other elected officials across the state, which will assure she has the network and personal connections needed to hit the ground running. I trust Rebekah to delve into the details and make sound decisions. Newtown deserves a State Representative who works hard for Newtown and this is why I’ll be voting for Rebekah on November 3rd.
