To the Editor:

Steve Hinden, who currently serves on the Board of Finance, has my enthusiastic support in his bid for reelection. He checks all of the boxes that I value in the people who serve our community.

*Is he thoughtful about his decisions — looking at the greater good?

Yes! He strives to balance the need for fiscal responsibility with support for a desirable and thriving community. He supports quality education and has the long-term goals of the Newtown in mind. Community matters.

*Is he dedicated to using data and information to critically analyze questions without prejudice?

Yes! Steve has shown he is interested in putting in time to analyze data and objectively using it for decisionmaking. Last budget season, he encouraged in-depth discussion with fellow board members about the trends in school budgets based on an analysis he brought forward.

*Does he have the life experience and personal qualities that contribute to board conversations?

Yes! Steve’s professional experience in business and his law degree give him great communication and interpersonal skills. He has a respect for others’ opinions while also being willing to make the case for his own perspective. He listens; he changes when needed and thinks independently. But most importantly, he is invested in our community and makes every discussion and decision about what is best for Newtown. Please join me in supporting Steve Hinden on November 5.
