To the Editor:

Please allow me to introduce to the readers Brennan Coakley, who is running for BOE this November 7th. Brennan along with his wife and 9-month-old son have recently returned to Newtown to work alongside his father in manufacturing.

Brennan is homegrown, he graduated from Newtown High School as a stand out athlete. He then attended Penn State on a football scholarship playing tight end. I will never forget the day last April when my husband William DeRosa excitedly came bounding up the stairs announcing he had identified the perfect person for BOE.

After having spent time with Brennan and his family I could not agree more. Brennan is running for all the right reasons. His sole aim is to improve the School District as he has a young son and has deep concerns regarding our current direction here in Newtown. Brennan is a champion of parental rights. A conservative thinker who believes a child’s education should involve the parents.

He also is a strong proponent of getting back to the basics of reading, arithmetic, sciences as well liberal arts in Newtown. Simply put he wants the politics out of the Board of Education. That alone is enough to earn my vote. My request is simple, please take the time to get to know this outstanding young man.

I am sure once you do you will understand my enthusiasm and join me in voting for him on November 7th.
