To the Editor:

I’m Paul Lundquist, and I’m seeking reelection to the Legislative Council in District 1. I hope you’ve seen and read some of the endorsement letters that have been submitted on my behalf, read my candidate profile, and gotten a sense of why I’ve earned your consideration. I’ve enjoyed support over the past four elections representing District 1, and for these past two years, I’ve had the additional honor of serving as Council Chairman. As we head into Election Day on November 5, I seek nothing more than to lend my experience, common sense, and leadership to help keep Newtown the great place we all chose to raise our families, enjoy our friends, and live a wonderful life.

I’m proud that our Newtown political races remain peaceful and congenial in contrast to the negative, divisive tone of our state and national party-driven politics. While we don’t all have to agree on every issue, the bitterness we see in politics outside of Newtown has no place here among our neighbors and colleagues. My hope is we’ll continue to retain our local focus, even as national issues heat up. My own local priorities will continue to be road maintenance, education, and public safety. I believe we need to balance these priorities while remaining vigilant and responsive to our changing needs as a town. This can all be done while building upon the positive momentum we’ve seen over the past few years.

Thank you for your consideration.

Though a member of the Legislative Council, my comments are my own.

Paul Lundquist
