Following the lead of other fire departments and companies that have had success in recent years with similar offerings, two of Newtown’s fire companies this season are planning Santa Gift Deliveries. Donations collected during the deliveries will benefit the participating companies.

Newtown Hook & Ladder and Botsford Fire Rescue are included in the inaugural offering.

Registration for Santa Deliveries will open on Monday, November 1, for the 2021 season, according to Hook & Ladder Firefighter Rachael Warburton, who is coordinating this year’s effort.

There are limited openings, so registration will be first-come, first-served. Residents should visit Newtown Hook & Ladder’s Facebook page, and Instagram and Twitter feeds, as well as the Newtown Neighbors Unite Facebook page, Warburton confirmed this week

Deliveries to homes will be done between 5 and 8 pm Wednesday, December 1; Tuesday, December 7; and Monday through Wednesday, December 20-22. There is a requested donation of $25 per gift, which will benefit the fire companies.

Parents/guardians will be asked to select up to three options for a delivery date.

A Google document will be posted on social media once the schedule has been determined.

A confirmation e-mail will automatically be sent following completion of that form. A final e-mail will then be sent with the date and approximate time families can expect to see Santa arriving with gifts.

All gifts are to be delivered to Hook & Ladder’s firehouse on Monday, November 29, between 6:30 and 8 pm. The requested financial donations are also expected that evening. Payment can be done through cash, check, Venmo or PayPal.

Parents/guardians are asked to keep the gifts small, as many will be delivered from the same vehicle each night.

They will be disbursed to the appropriate company the following evening. Deliveries will commence on December 1.
