Several dozen dogs and their owners gathered at Park and Bark, the town’s fenced off-leash dog park at Fairfield Hills, on a mild Saturday, October 26, to compete in Halloween-themed games and contests.

Some owners opted to don costumes similar to their costumed dogs’ attire, making for some colorful clothing for the human-dog pairings.

The two-hour event marked the Newtown Parks and Recreation Department’s 10th Annual Howl-O-Ween Party, which is a fundraiser for the Park and Bark complex. The facility is near the towns animal shelter on Old Farm Road.

Games, raffles, and costume contests were held. Categories for dogs included Scariest, Most Original, Cutest, Canine-Human Look-Alike, and Best In Show.
