U16 Travel Softball

 

A 16-and-under girls’ traveling softball team (name still undetermined) will be holding tryouts for the summer 2000 season. Any players interested in participating should call Frank Bonacci at 426-3361 for further details on sites and times.

Striker Indoor Winter Classic

 

The Sherman Soccer Club will host its third annual Striker Indoor Soccer Winter Classic tournament on Saturday and Sunday, January 30, at the O’Neill Center on the campus of Western Connecticut State University in Danbury. Individual prizes will be awarded to the first- and second-place winners in each age group – except U10 and U9, where participation awards will be presented to all players. Each team will be guaranteed five games, playing on a point system for the final match. The tournament is sanctioned by the USYSA and approved by the CJSA. Soccer Coaching Clinic

 

The Canterbury School athletic department in New Milford will be sponsoring a soccer clinic on Saturday, November 13, from 9:30 am to 12 noon, featuring Ton de Hoop, a professor at the Central Institute of SportCoaches in Arnhem, Holland and an instructor at the Royal Dutch Soccer Federation. Breeze Has Two Roster Spots Open

 

The Connecticut Breeze 18-and-under fastpitch softball team has two roster spots remaining for the year 2000 summer season. Tryouts are by appointment. If interested, call Mark McCusker at 1-203-426-1501 or Tom Charney at 1-203-877-9148.

Fischang-Cicchetti Memorial Road Race

 

The 25th anniversary running of the Fischang-Cicchetti Memorial Road Race will be held Sunday, November 21, at 9 am, starting at the Waterbury YMCA at 136 West Main Street in Waterbury. The course is relatively flat with a fast finish, beginning in front of the Y and proceeding through historic downtown, out East Main Street and past the Brass Mill Shopping Mall, into Hamilton Park, looping back down East Main Steet, to finish on the Green. Pre-registration is $12 while registration the day of the race is $15. A Fun Run for children (at $2) will also be held. Pitching/Hitting Clinics
