NHS Scholarships

The following Scholarships have arrived in the Career Center at Newtown High School.  Applications and/or information for these scholarships, as well as ones previously listed in The Bee, are available there.  Please call Mrs. McEvoy at 426-1915 if you have any questions.

High School Christian Student/Athlete All-American Award - Each athlete must meet ten criteria to receive a nomination for the award (see Mrs McEvoy in the Career Center). This $1,000 award is for a current junior or senior who has received (or will receive) athletic honors on a conference, state or national level. Overall grade point average must be a 2.8 or higher. Forms must be postmarked no later than Friday, November 10, 2000. For further information refer to the web site at www.augn.org

The Kline Family Community Service Scholarship - the scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who has been accepted and will attend the University of Connecticut.  The student needs a record of community service. At least one $250 scholarship is awarded yearly. Applications must be submitted by April 25, 2001. Ayn Rand Essay Contests - available for 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students.   $62,000 in prize money, top prize $10,000, 502 total prizes. Entry deadline for 9th and 10th graders is April 2, 2001 and for 11th and 12th graders the deadline is April 16, 2001.
