Burglary/Larceny

Police report that someone sometime between 8 am and 3:30 pm on October 29 entered a home on Swamp Road in Botsford and stole stereo equipment and jewelry. Police are investigating and ask anyone with information about the crime to contact the detective bureau at 270-4235.

Truck Into Bridge

Tractor-trailer trucker Pavel Vakoulich, 48, of Ontario, Canada, was driving a truck eastbound on Church Hill Road about 8:30 pm October 30 when the truck’s trailer became wedged under the low-clearance Housatonic Railroad rail overpass near Wire Road.

Vakoulich was not injured, but the truck’s trailer was totaled in the collision, police said.

Police issued the trucker an infraction ticket for failure to obey low-clearance signs and for driving a truck that was too long.

Bus Accident

Police report a minor school bus accident about 2:50 pm October 31 on Church Hill Road in front of St Rose School.

Police said a large school bus carrying about eight St Rose School students, which was driven by William E. Henckel, 54, of 25 Echo Valley Road, was turning left from the school driveway onto the road when it collided with an eastbound 1999 Subaru Legacy station wagon driven by Bernard S. Cayne, 76, of 8 Old Green Road.

There were no reported injuries.

The bus received light damage and the station wagon received moderate damage, police said.

Police issued Henckel an infraction ticket on a charge of failure to grant the right of way.
