Volunteer firefighters from Hawleyville, Newtown Hook & Ladder, Sandy Hook, and Botsford were alerted of a light smoke condition inside Grace Family Church of Newtown at 174 Mt Pleasant Road in Hawleyville about 1:05 pm on October 27. Firefighters responded to the scene and checked the origin of the problem, which was a malfunctioning roof-mounted heating-ventilaton-air conditioning unit. There were no injuries in the incident.
