Featuring Marion Grodin—

Comedy Night & Silent Auction Being Planned

An evening of comedy featuring Marion Grodin and a silent auction featuring among other items, a week’s stay in a Vermont ski house, and dining for two couples with Dr Ruth in Manhattan, will be held at Congregation Adath Israel on Saturday, November 10, beginning at 7 pm.

Marion Grodin is known for her rare combination of down to earth and sophisticated comedy. She has been seen on The View and The Conan O’Brien Show, toured with Linda Ronstadt and shared the stage with Jerry Seinfeld, Roseanne Barr and Robin Williams. She has also been a staff writer for TV sitcoms. Daughter of Charles Grodin, who lovingly nicknamed her “The Mouth,” Ms Grodin has also been a favorite at New York City comedy clubs including The Gothan.

Known to be very self revealing as she probes her audience, Ms Grodin’s shows become hilarious  events which all can relate to.

Guests are encouraged to bring their one funniest joke to share. A prize will be given for the best one.

Among the auction items being offered are tickets to The Quick Center, Bridgeport Symphony, Town Players of Newtown, Westport Country Playhouse, and Palace Theatre; and many restaurant gift certificates including Blue Colony Diner, The Colony, figs, La Fortuna, Mona Lisa, My Place Restaurance, Pub 25 Grille, and Sal e Pepe.

Other auction items include Flowers from Irene, a week stay in a Vermont home that comfortably sleeps 12, several gourmet gift baskets, dental work by Dental Associates, a book of early photos of Elizabeth Taylor, antiques, jewelry, quilting by Selma Kenter of Istanbul, a custom child’s painting by Penny Fedder, limo transportation to an airport,  kayak lessons, a spa event, wine baskets,  spa gift certificates, and a workshop in stone expression for five at the studio of Debby Tendler.

The evening will begin at 7 pm and will include homemade gourmet appetizers, desserts and beverages.

Tickets are $25 in advance, or $30 at the door. Call Bonnie Goldstein (203-459-0089), Rita Frost (203-426-8787) or Nancy Bamberg (203-426-7801); send checks to Congregation Adath Israel, PO Box 623, Newtown CT 06470; or visit adath.ticketleap.com/comedy (by November 6).
