To the Editor:

We are proud to say that we have been friends with Alison Plante for more than seven years. Through those years, she and her husband have grown their young family from one child to three — her eldest son and daughter are currently part of the public school system with their younger brother joining them next year. One of Alison’s greatest assets is her ability to maintain a calm confidence, which is not always an easy task with three young children. Alison’s accomplishments include serving a term on the Legislative Council, being appointed as an incumbent B of E member, room parent and girl scout troop leader — she is always ready to step up and serve whenever she sees a need. Her competence, skill set, and her ability to rise to any challenge before her, whether it be in her accomplished career or raising her family, is both impressive and enviable.

During the recent term, the Board of Education was faced with the book challenge. Alison approached this scenario as she does all situations, even-keeled with intelligence, logic and practical thinking. She fostered conversation while holding true to what she thought was right and was ultimately able to broker a resolution. She approaches every conversation with nothing but respect and thoughtfulness. She listens to understand and will ask your opinion and reasoning before sharing her own but will also not be shy about voicing her thoughts. We have utmost confidence that she will always look out for the best interest of the children, the staff and the town.

With that, we would like to express our support for Alison Plante for another term on the Board of Education.
