To the Editor:

As I was watching the League of Women Voters debate at Edmond Town Hall last Tuesday, October 24th between the two tickets running for the highest office in Newtown, it seems clearer that Jeffrey Capeci and John Madzula have the combined executive experience and leadership to replace beloved outgoing first selectman Daniel Rosenthal and handle the town’s affairs on day one. It takes stamina, executive leadership, experience, and passion to lead the town. In times of uncertainty and challenges, we should put at the helm of the town a strong, experienced leader.

The most qualified candidate for the highest leadership position in our town is Jeff Capeci as First Selectman, complemented by John Madzula as selectman. It’s a big job with a lot of responsibilities, Jeff is well prepared to step into the role immediately and make an impact.

Furthermore, Jeff and John have a positive vision for the town, which includes fiscally responsible leadership and responsible development, preserving a vibrant arts scene in Newtown, and supporting age in place policies. In keeping with our motto, “Nicer in Newtown,” they strive to maintain Newtown as a small New England town where everyone feels welcome and can flourish.

Finally, we are fortunate to have two leaders who put the town’s interests first, working collaboratively and effectively for the town’s citizens regardless of their party affiliation. Because of the above, I encourage Newtown residents from different walks of life, socioeconomic circumstances, and political affiliations to support Jeffrey Capeci and John Madzula.
