Margaret “Peg” Wood, 73, passed away on October 30, 2023, at St Francis Hospital in Hartford.

Margaret (Morgan) Wood was born on October 16, 1950, in Danbury, to Louise Morgan and Ernest Morgan Sr. She was a resident of Newtown for her entire life and was a graduate of Newtown High School, class of 1969.

Margaret was employed at Associated Internists of Danbury during the 1980s and furthered her career in the medical field by obtaining her Certified Nurses Aid certification. She was a homecare and hospice nurse through Masonicare for many years.

Margaret married Leonard (Len) Wood on April 23, 1988, at Newtown Congregational Church. The two were each other’s best friends and soulmates. They were blessed with a daughter, Dora, in 1989.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Leonard Wood; her daughter, Dora Wood; granddaughter, Addison Sorg and ex-son-in-law, Casey Sorg of Myrtle Beach, S.C.

She is also survived by her brothers Ernest Morgan Jr and his wife Pam of Newtown, and John and Nancy Morgan of Vero Beach, Fla.; her sister Patricia Nadeau of Ellington, and her sister-in-law, Mary Morgan of Mira Loma, Calif.; her sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Fred Miller of Fairfield; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents, and a brother, Robert Morgan of Mira Loma, Calif. She was also predeceased by her longtime childhood friend Gloria (Blais) Morgan. She is now reunited with her and we know they are enjoying each other’s company once again.

Margaret was a heartwarming woman and enjoyed talking to everyone she would meet. We often told her that she had an invisible sign on her back saying “talk to me.”

Margaret would spend her time watching soap operas such as General Hospital and All My Children. She would sew and paint crafts for Christmas presents and you were blessed if you ever tasted her lemon meringue pie. Margaret enjoyed taking trips to Maine, Cape Cod, and many cross country adventures with her husband.

Margaret requested no funeral services; however, a celebration of life will be planned for a later date. Donations in her name can be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Shriners Children’s Hospital.

Margaret “Peg” Wood.

Peggy was a dear friend who I was blessed to know. We met each other when I met my future husband who lived in the mobile home park her Mom owned. We had alot of great chats, and laughs. We remained long distance friends when my husband and I moved to Maine. She will forever be in my heart, until we meet again.
