NHS Stages Classic Play

Newtown High School Drama Club will perform Tennessee Williams’ classic play, A Streetcar Named Desire November 16–19. Directed by NHS senior Nathaniel Basch-Gould, the production focuses on the breakdown of famed heroine Blanche Dubois, during her visit with her sister, Stella, and brother-in-law, Stanley, in postwar New Orleans.

“There is such incredible power in this show, and I wanted to get students involved in producing something with real dramatic weight. This cast carries that weight and is using that momentum to put up a show that will profoundly move this community,” says Nathaniel.

Senior Keilly McQuail stars as the fragile, yet captivating Blanche, while senior Brian Stickles plays opposite her as Stanley Kowalski. As Stella, junior Maia Jacoby rounds out the cast of 11.

Performances in the Newtown High School auditorium begin Thursday, November 16, at 7:30 pm, and continue Friday, November 17, at 8 pm, Saturday, November 18, at 8 pm and Sunday, November 19, at 2 pm. General admission is $10, with $8 tickets for students and seniors.

For tickets, call Sharon McCarthy at 426-4369.
