The Newtown-Sandy Hook Community Foundation (NSHCF) and The Tapping Solution Foundation (TTSF) have partnered to provide educational programs for the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder with EFT/Tapping.

Complex PTSD symptoms for many Newtown residents, including students, may be overlooked, misdiagnosed and/or undertreated. Somatic release methods like EFT/Tapping address the neurological impact of trauma and assist the brain and body in returning to their natural resourceful and resilient state.

Lori Leyden, PhD, leader of TTSF’s Newtown Trauma Relief and Resiliency Project, and Deb Del Vecchio-Scully, LPC, CMHS, clinical recovery leader, Newtown Recovery and Resiliency Team, will present two free workshops entitled “Fostering Recovery and Resiliency After Trauma.” The workshops are  designed to assist parents, educators, first responders, health care and mental health professionals, clergy and others serving those still experiencing stress and trauma related to the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy.

The first workshop will be Wednesday, November 12, from 6:30 to 8 pm, at the Knights of Columbus Building, located on the campus of St Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, 46 Church Hill Road.

This experiential workshop is for the general public as well as professionals supporting those still experiencing stress and trauma symptoms. Seating is limited so registration is requested; call Victoria Cryder, 203-313-1560.

The second workshop will be Tuesday, November 18, from 5:30 until 8 pm, at C.H. Booth Library. This session will be a practical and experiential PTSD training for professionals supporting those experiencing trauma, traumatic stress and grief.

Networking will run from 5:30 to 6, followed by the program beginning at 6.

Reservations are also requested for this session, and can be done by contacting Ms Cryder, 203-313-1560.

Both workshops are free of charge.

The Tapping Solution Foundation was established by Newtown resident Nick Ortner, in collaboration with Dr Leyden of Create Global Healing. TTSF has been delivering EFT/Tapping trauma services and training since 12/14.

In collaboration with Dr Leyden, TTSF has developed a powerful network of local, national and international alliances to bring train-the-trainer trauma relief and resiliency services and educational programs to Newtown. This is a sustainable long-term, community-based initiative supporting healing in Newtown and globally.

EFT/Tapping is a stress and trauma somatic release method that is simple to learn, child-friendly and recognized by the American Psychological Association as an effective treatment for stress and trauma. This strategy has been used successfully in over 14 countries.
