Lee W. Glover Sr

Lee W Glover, Sr, of Woodbury, passed away peacefully at The Lutheran Home of Southbury on November 1. Lee was born in Danbury on February 1, 1929, to the late Walter L. Glover and Dorothy (Haight) Glover. He was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Patricia (Neary) Glover.

Lee entered the Army in 1951 and was awarded the purple heart for a wound sustained in Korea. He was with the 279th regiment, 45th division. Lee joined Newtown Hook & Ladder at the age of 16. After the service in 1952, he was appointed 3rd assistant chief and in 1954 was appointed chief. He remained chief until his retirement in 1974. In 1976, he became a life member. He was on the Board of Burgesses of the Borough of Newtown for many years. Lee was also instrumental in the organization of the first Labor Day Parade in Newtown. Lee worked for Heise Borden for many years. He was owner operator of Newtown School Bus #21 for 24 years. He was also a real estate broker for many years.

He is survived by his children, Lee Jr (Donna), Charles (Julie), Susan (Paul), and Linda (Rick); stepsons, Mark Ennis (Katherine) and Tim Ennis (Laura); sister, Joan Crick; niece, Maureen Crick Owen; several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and a great-grandchild; as well as his special friend, Claire, and his faithful companion, Geisala.

The family would like to thank the Lutheran Home for making his last days peaceful.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held Saturday, November 14, at 11 am at the Newtown Village Cemetery.

Arrangements are in care of Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
