Democracy Is On The Line

To the Editor:

A recent CBS poll showed that Democrats were concerned more about a functioning democracy (63% from Democrats vs 29% from Republicans) than the economy (21% Democrats vs 70% Republicans). But how do you have a strong economy if you don’t have a strong democracy to build upon it? I think this survey says everything you need to know.

This is why I’m voting for Jahana Hayes for US congress.

A former teacher married to a police officer demonstrates that she cares more about people than power. I’m voting for Captain Tim Gavin for the CT Senate. He has put country above all else and will ensure we are represented well next year. I’m voting for Richard Blumenthal because he puts our children before guns. I’m voting for Ned Lamont and Susan Bysiewicz because they guided us safely through COVID while the former president misled the American people about how dangerous the epidemic was.

Democracy is on the line and it’s time to stand up and be counted. Get out and vote on November 8th.

“Democracy is at risk if people exercise their free choice and don’t vote the way we want them to” is an interesting pitch, especially after Democrat PACs spent $48M supporting far right candidates in the primaries believing they would be easier to beat in a general.

The former president listened to Fauci. Big mistake. The current president did the same. Two wrongs make a right?
