To the Editor:

I am so excited this year to be supporting Tim Gavin for State Senate on November 8th. I recently read his Op-Ed on tech safety, and I was so impressed by his work experience and dedication to making our internet a safer place for our children. Tim’s clear vision for Connecticut and solutions-oriented approaches to tackling the most pressing problems our state is facing are a refreshing change of pace from what we usually get with our politicians.

After reading his article I did a little research and was even more impressed by Tim’s candidacy. Both of his parents are public schools teachers and he is a proud graduate of Connecticut public schools. He went on to attend Yale where he studied ethics and, after graduating, he served in the army for four years. Capt Gavin knows first hand what it takes to keep our nation safe and how vital supporting our public education system is.

After his military service ended, Tim moved back to Connecticut where he enrolled in a coding boot camp specifically designed to help individuals learn the skills they need to secure jobs in emerging industries. His experience allowed him to become a content moderator for Meta with the explicit job of helping to ensure our children are not subjected to harmful posts and predators online. His expertise in online safety and technology more broadly is certainly something we could all benefit from in our state government. That is why we must send Tim Gavin to Hartford.

Capt Gavin is determined to be an effective, honest, and intelligent legislator for us in Hartford. Most of all, Tim is committed to engaging us, his voters. I am so looking forward to voting for Tim Gavin on November 8th and I hope you’ll join me.
